Don’t settle for less than the NATION’S BEST!
The NSCA* is the ONLY nationally accredited sports conditioning organization that requires its specialists to obtain a 4year Science-based BA college degree. Lucky for Anaheim Hills and Yorba Linda, there is a fitness facility (and only ONE facility) in the city that has that accolade. OT Fitness has that here in Aram Keuilian, CSCS. As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Aram is highly recognized in the area for his success with local sports teams. He has worked with Cal Berkeley Football, Chapman University Men’s and Women’s Soccer and Baseball, Orange Coast College Football and Volleyball, Canyon High School CIF Finalist Baseball, Men’s & Women’s Basketball and Softball, Esperanza Softball, Baseball, and Basketball, Servite Swim, Junior Ducks Hockey, and ACES Baseball Club. As well as playing Varsity Baseball, Soccer, and Football and College Football.

Sport Specific Training - Don’t Train in Vain
By Aram Keuilian, CSCS
The more specific the training program is to a particular sport or activity, the greater the improvement in performance in that area. Many athletes think that they have to be “BIG” to be good in their sport, because size is falsely associated with talent in certain sports. I am here to tell you that it is not the size of the athlete that countsfor most sports, but the body composition created by proper training and preparation. The type of training practiced, influences the composition of muscle.
There are two main types of muscle fibers in a superior athlete’s muscular system. High percentages of slow-twitch (ST) or fast-twitch (FT) muscle fibers may develop with certain training regimens, based on the needs of the particular sport. Each has its benefit, as no sport utilizes only one or the other. ST muscle fibers have a high level of aerobic endurance, great for low intensity long-distance activity. FT muscle fibers are important for anaerobic, or high intensity, explosive energy requirements. With that in mind, the right proportion of fibers may help to determine the athlete’s success in his or her particular sport. For example, a sprinter will have approximately 24% ST and 76% FT in the calf muscle, whereas the cross-country runner will develop 79% ST and 21% FT fibers in that same muscle. These basic training principles can be applied to all forms of sport or physical training.
This so-called principle of specificity, describes that training must stress systems vital for optimal performance in a given sport, in order for the athlete to achieve specific physical changes. Our goal at OT Fitness is to influence a peak of performance to get your athlete properly prepared for the upcoming sport season. We promise to accurately evaluate and design a training regimen tailored to reduce the risk of overtraining and focus on an OPTIMAL performance.
